UIU FEATURES

  • NEW Simple process to create a universal Image file that is truly hardware independent imaging solution - Set up your OS (Microsoft Windows 7, Vista or XP) the way you like it, run UIU, then clone.
  • NEW UIU supports all Intel-based hardware for
Macintosh computers for full Windows 7 installation or the Windows 7 side of Mac Boot Camp.
  • NEW Full support for Microsoft Windows 7, including a new driver database and Windows 7 Welcome installation optimization.
  • NEW UIU Discovery Tool is now OS-agnostic and allows you to create a Master Image which contains only the drivers necessary for your environment, further decreasing time spent imaging.
  • The UIU Image is compatible with virtually all Windows Hardware. After running the UIU, your master image can be deployed to almost any PC hardware configuration - desktop or laptop.
  • Run the UIU once on your Master (Base) computer, just prior to collecting the Image.  From there, your existing procedures do not need to change.

The wonders of one Image - it's money in the bank.
  • Driver database and resulting Image contain the latest device drivers for all system components, such as NICs, sound cards, video cards, motherboards, keyboard, mouse, drive controllers, chipsets, modems, internal biometric devices, USB/firewire ports and any other internal system component.
  • UIU includes all the plug-and-play drivers. You no longer need to search for and collect missing drivers, nor create and store an Image file for each different model of computer you support, nor dread incorporating the latest security patches into your Images.
  • Easy-to-use, intuitive GUI walks you through the set up process.

INTERFACE & SUPPORT:
  • Fast - UIU takes less than five minutes to run.
  • Support - UIU licenses include access to driver updates, technical support and version upgrades for twelve months.
  • Online Update of drivers - The latest drivers are downloaded automatically and included in your Master Image.
  • Proven - Over 2,000,000 machines have been licensed and successfully cloned.
  • Comprehensive Logging - The complete UIU process is logged to aid in diagnostics and support.
  • Built-in Help file - UIU has a comprehensive help file which is accessible when running.
  • What they're saying...

"Having to maintain dozens of Hardware images was not practical, now we have one image for any hardware."

  • Large Database of Drivers - Over 26,000 plug-and-play driver IDs are included with UIU to support almost all system devices, including NICs, sound cards, video cards, motherboards, keyboard, mouse, drive controllers, chipsets, modems, internal biometric devices and USB/firewire ports.
  • Step by Step Interface - An easy-to-follow interface providing a step-by-step wizard is built into UIU.
  • The UIU wizard helps create both the unattend .XML file for Vista or the Sysprep answer file through an easy-to-use GUI or allows you to import your existing file - no more manually editing .INF or .XML files.
  • Includes one comprehensive driver database for Windows 7, Vista and XP - The UIU detects which OS is present and automatically loads the required drivers.
  • Complete Automation - UIU can be configured to run unattended.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:

  • Reliable - The UIU includes Master Image Machine Integrity Check (MIMIC), which authenticates the Master (source) computer, resulting in an Image that is optimized for deployment to the target (destination) computers.
  • Versatile - UIU can be run from CD/DVD, Hard-drive, over a network, or from a USB key.
  • SCSI Drive Support - UIU can be deployed to systems running from SCSI drives.
  • ACPI HAL Detection/Installation - UIU automatically detects and installs the correct HAL for the machines to which you have deployed.
  • Automated Sysprep Location and Installation - Sysprep is automatically installed if found on your machine, or links to the Microsoft site are opened, with steps to download and install.
  • Extensive command flags to customize the UIU process - A full feature set of run-time flags- available from either command line parameters or a setting file- allows the UIU to be run in many ways.
  • Post Clean-Up Process - After a clone has been deployed, UIU automatically cleans up the new systems registry and hardware list.
  • Ability to include only signed drivers in your Master Image, meeting a requirement to use the UIU in certain secure environments.
KEY FEATURES OF VERSION 4.5
  • MIMIC increases the reliability of the deployments by analyzing the source computer for best-practices which optimizes and authenticates the resultant Master Image.
  • Updated, wizard-style GUI with final-configuration review and the ability to go back and change settings without aborting the process.
  • The library of 26,000+ plug-and-play IDs, included with the UIU, has been streamlined, allowing for smaller database size, more accurate hardware detection and decreased UIU run-time, while still supporting every business-class desktop, laptop and Tablet PC.

  • New methodology to handle individual driver updates on an as-available basis, rather than in a bundled format, for both testing and final production.
  • Enhanced tracking feature for compatibility with common software inventory packages (for example, SMS).
  • New automated update methodology to increase update speeds and decrease wait time.
  • Improved manual update functionality provides greater efficiency when the Users network environment prohibits them from using the automated update feature.
THE UIU DISCOVERY TOOL:

Since early in 2009, the Universal Imaging Utility included the UIU Discovery Tool.

Run this advanced scanning utility on any machine that will receive a new image.  Discovery Tool analyzes the computer and produces a detailed report of the components on that machine.  How is this useful?

  • Ensures that the computer is compatible with the UIU and it can be imaged without worrying about missing drivers, incorrect HALs or rolling re-boots.
  • Gives you the ability to create an Image with only the drivers necessary for your environment, decreasing overhead, image size and deployment times.
  • Verifies that as new models and platforms are added to the network the UIU is compatible with them.
  • Enables UIU technical support personnel to quickly identify which components need drivers, greatly reducing wait times.
